This event, partially sponsored by a grant from the Bellafiore Foundation, administered by TCF, is specifically for apprentices who have attended or missed our recent group trainings. We are continuing a wave of change, fresh understanding and new practice concepts for you to work with, both individually and together to bring our confidence and embodiment of push hands in particular, to a new and exciting level.

We want to make sure that this is a clear invitation to all apprentices to attend, but a definite invite for the UK group. We hope you will not allow anything to deter your attendance. If you have complicating factors you wish to discuss, please feel free to contact the organizers or the presenters.

Our previous promo, sent to you via the TCF News, pretty well sums up our intention, but we have been asked for something a bit more pointed. So, here’s a little something more.

We are on tour to reach all members of our school, apprentices and experienced teachers, to communicate our more recent understanding of the dynamics of push hands and how those dynamics have been affected by shared school-wide habits. Here are our operating assumptions:

More effective push hands is within everyone’s capabilities.
All that’s needed is a shift of perspective, utilizing martial awareness to recognize the meaning of rootedness, connection and harmony.
The skill set involved comes directly from the spirit of service, the energy of teaching/helping others to find their balance.
Tantien awareness is key, and must move from being an abstraction to a clearly recognizable and repeatable experience.
We benefit from examining our own reactions to the world without judgement, and our practice, especially the push hands, gives us opportunities to witness how these reactions impact our balance.

We will be progressing step-by-step through the first three sessions of the weekend using familiar and new approaches to establish the understanding and change of awareness in qigong, Eight Ways, form, push hands and sword. The fourth session for the public will be an opportunity to put into practice what we’ve been working over the other three. Please plan to attend all four and although sword will primarily happen in session 3 please bring your swords to both days. If you have any extra swords, please bring them for use by those without. We will be giving a sword experience as a part of the workshop even to those who have not learned the sword form yet, but this will not be a new sword form class.

We look forward to working with each of you.

Best regards,
Greg & Sherry
