- MING GIM / JIAN

- CHING GIM / JIAN

The following swords in the gallery look like they would also be fine for us:
- #103 - CMC Gim (This sword looks like the one George H has and is Cheng Man-ching sword)
- #109 - Van Sickle jian (This is the sword I got, same price as the stock ming jian)
- #110 - Ming gim, w/ oval x-section blade
- #112 - RS/GRTC combo jian

"You send her the blade length and choose one of three woods for the hilt. She makes the average point of balance 4 to 5 inches from the guard. If you want it closer you can ask her to do that, I like mine closer because sword feels lighter. The balance point is more important than the actual weight of a sword in how it will feel in the hand. A sword of a given weight will feel lighter in the hand when the balance point is closer to the guard and heavier when the balance point is further from the guard. You also have to tell her if you want the point pointed or rounded. In my opinion, the rounded looks dorky; the pointed version is not very pointed and I find it safe for fencing. It took two months to get my sword. Turnaround depends on how much work she has in her shop.” - Edna Brandt, discussing her sword from Raven Studios

We have purchased swords from other companies as well. For information on the swords pictured below, please contact Steve Shulman at stevestcc@aol.com.

Tassels

There is a place where we order tassels for the sword.
The tassels came from STCC NY:

Kahaner Company
3404 Ocean Ave.
Oceanside, NY 11572
Phone 516-766-6363
Fax 516-766-7238

If you want a gold tassel, then tell them you want the gold that "The Human Process" ordered on 9/27/07 (there are many gold/yellows, so you’ll need to specify).

The red tassel is also quite nice (blue and violet are nice as well, but they do fade more than the red and gold). We paid $180 for a dozen and then $9 for shipping in September 2007.
