in Nashville, TN

Join us for the 2025 Winter Training in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee—renowned as the heart of country music and Southern hospitality.

We’re excited to kick off our 50th anniversary celebration at this Winter Training! To commemorate this milestone, we’re honored to host Margaret Olmsted, Gerrie Sporken, and Greg Woodson, along with many 8th-level teachers, to teach in this inspiring environment.

We are pleased to offer a wide range of apprenticeships: B1, B2, B3, Fundamentals, IF, and PH2. In-depth training will also be provided in Push Hands 1.5, PH4, and PH7. Need something in between? Let us know! Additionally, there will be a new Sword form class, along with ongoing Sword form training and Fencing. Each day’s sessions will conclude by either 5:30 or 7:00, depending on your schedule, leaving ample time for rest or exploration.

This year, we’re introducing an exciting new Experienceship—The Meaning of the Tai Chi Moves: Embodiment and Application. This Experienceship will focus on highlighting the quality of qi and Tai Chi principles in each part of the form.

Would you like a deeper understanding of the form? In these Experienceship sessions, we’ll delve into the essential energy and application of the moves, both individually and with partners. We’ll also focus on refining our teaching qualities, whether you’re new or a seasoned teacher, learning from each other through solo movements, partner exercises, and playful activities.

How can you prepare? Reflect on the strengths you already possess and consider what you’d love to share with others. Ask yourself: What are you best at? What skills would you like to develop? Are you naturally a “giver” or a “receiver”? Both roles are essential, and everyone is welcome to join these sessions, regardless of how many hours or years you’ve been teaching. Come and explore the Tai Chi principles and the profound meaning of the Tai Chi Chuan form!

We warmly invite you to join us for a week of Tai Chi practice and celebration in the vibrant, welcoming city of Nashville. Nashville offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions, from the bustling music scene on Broadway to the serene beauty of its parks and greenways. The city’s rich history, dynamic arts, and renowned culinary offerings make it an exciting destination for both exploration and relaxation. Experience the warmth and charm of Nashville’s community as you connect with the solidity of the red clay earth and the vastness of the heavens, fostering grounding, free-flowing energy, and inner creativity.

Looking forward to seeing you all,
Gerrie, Margaret (MO), and the Winter Training Team 2025

Around town: Due to Nashville’s low walkability, we recommend carpooling, ride-sharing, or renting a car to ensure convenient and efficient transportation around the city. Most streets in Nashville do not have sidewalks or shoulders to walk on. If you are walking any distance – please ensure your safety with a safety vest or reflective bands.
