







While there is no substitute for quality teaching one can learn tai chi at home by using the Tai Chi Foundation DVD, The Principles and Practice of T'ai Chi Chuan™. The first section of this DVD shows the Yang style short form as a continuous flow from beginning to end, emphasizing the internal principles of tai chi. The second section shows a round which pauses at the postures to point out specific indications in the form. Also included is a short introduction to our school and, as a special bonus, some rarely seen footage of our school’s founder, Patrick Watson. This DVD along with Cheng Man-Ch’ing’s book, T’ai Chi Ch’uan-A simplified Method of Calisthenics for Health & Self Defense will give you enough to get started until you can enroll in a course.
One can learn the fundamentals of tai chi by practicing qigong. An excellent resource is the Tai Chi Foundation DVD Roots and Branches Five Element Qi Gong™. This beautifully produced two DVD set offers an introduction to five element theory and provides easy to learn qigong exercises, walks and massages as well as guided morning and evening routines.
